ingredients
all
2 whole eggs
3 cups milk
1 cup whipping cream
1 tbsp vanilla
3/4 cup currants
1 tsp nutmeg
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
melted
1 whole french baguette
day old, cut into .5" slices
powdered sugar
strawberries
fresh, sliced

blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, as available
1
Preheat oven to 350°F.
2
To make the custard, combine the eggs, 3/4 cup sugar, milk, cream, melted butter, vanilla, currants, and nutmeg in a bowl; whisk to blend well.
3
In a large bowl, pour the mixture over the bread slices and let soak, turning as necessary, until slices are soft and saturated, about 20 minutes.
4
Arrange the slices in a lightly greased baking dish and pour any excess custard mixture over the bread. Bake, uncovered, until the custard is set and top is lightly browned, about 45 minutes.
5
To serve, dust the top of the pudding with powdered sugar, and serve with fresh berries.
